During the strict checking the Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) staff pursuing the information to the effect that narcotics would be smuggled to UK through a courier service, mounted vigilance and spotted a parcel of ladies hand bags.

The customs officer informed Customs Today that the parcel of ladies hand bags was booked by M/s DHL Courier Service to be shipped to Blackburn Lancashire, United Kingdom. The detailed examination of the said parcel was carried during which more than 225 grams of heroin powder was recovered.

The heroin powder was tactfully concealed in ladies hand bags. After its recovery the staff seized smuggled brown heroin powder. The tentative value of seized goods is more than Rs 2.2 million in the market.

An FIR lodged against the arrested consignor and investigation started to bust a gang involved in this nefarious activity.
