Gwadar Customs foils bid to smuggle Indian gutka & vehicle worth Rs2m

GWADAR: The Customs staff Khurkhera seized Indian origin smuggled gutka along with offending vehicle worth Rs 2 million.

According to details the mobile squad Khurkhera during routine checking stopped a car Toyota Corolla with bearing registration No.AFY-270 which was coming from Quetta towards Karachi. The said vehicle was signaled to stop but instead of stopping the driver of the vehicle accelerated its speed.

The sources of Gawader customs informed Customs Today that the squad chased the vehicle while before reaching of customs staff the driver of the vehicle abandoned the said vehicle and fled to in nearby village whereas upon checking the vehicle, it was loaded with JM gutka 10 bags (each bag containing 50 packets), niswar 38 small bags (each bag containing 25 packets) and RMD gutka 04 bags (each containing 40 packets).

The sources told that no one came forward to claim the parked vehicle. The customs staff took possession of the said vehicle along with above-mentioned items and brought the same to Customs House Gaddani. The smuggled goods were seized for violation of section 156,157 of Customs Act 1969 while FIR was registered against unknown persons.

The detecting customs staff comprised Saeed Ahmad Baloch Superintendent Preventive, Munsif Ali Shah Inspector, Abdul Aziz Leghari Inspector and class iv staff of mobile squad Khurkhera.
