Hyderabad Customs generates Rs652.947m: Khalid Hussain Jamali

HYDERABAD: Customs Collectorate (MCC) generated Rs 652.947 million customs duties and taxes during month of August 2019.

Sources told Customs Today that the department collected Rs224.473 million of customs duty, Rs393.973 million as sales tax and Rs 34.501 million as withholding tax (WHT) during the above-mentioned period.

The MCC Hyderabad collected Rs 652.947 million during the month of August 2019 while it was assigned a target of Rs 1066.900 million as customs duty, sales tax, federal excise duty and withholding tax.

Major sources of tax revenue remained Hyderabad Dry Port State Warehouse, Sukkur-Larkana Division, M/s Rema Cooking Oil and others. The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) also seized non-duty-paid goods worth millions of rupees.

Sources told Customs Today that under the supervision of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, Additional Collector (HQ), Deputy Collector Dry Port, Principal Appraiser and others played an important role in revenue collection, officials said.

The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad, Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) Hyderabad, Sukkur-Larkana-Jacobabad Divisions aborted various smuggling attempts and made big seizures of non-duty-paid goods including seven non-duty-paid vehicles and three (u/s 157 ) non-duty-paid High Speed Diesel Iranian, (F/O) cloth, 10 kgs charas, cigarettes, contraband items, 247000 sachets of gutka, 23092 boxes of tiles worth Rs 69.276.000 and other goods worth Rs 98.619.814 in different operations during month of August 2019.

Sources added that the anti-smuggling campaign is in full swing in the region following the direction of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali to streamline the national economy.
