MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has seized non-duty paid vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs168 million during anti-smuggling actions in September.
Collector Muhammad Saleem has taken plenty of pragmatic and remarkable steps towards the improvement of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) after joining his responsibilities in the Collectorate. Special emphasis was given on the revamping of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) to curb menace of smuggling from the jurisdiction.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization was re-organized and staffs were deployed strategically in the jurisdiction to foil the different attempts of smuggling. Multan Customs has enhanced the monitoring of the suspected routes to intercept the non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles. These special measures of Anti-Smuggling Organization have definitely created a deterrence impact on the people involved in the smuggling of different kinds of high value goods and it is quite evident from the recent remarkable performance of ASO which is going towards gradual considerable rise.
Multan Customs Preventive has detected 63 seizure cases worth Rs168 million during their aggressive crackdown in the region during September 2019-20.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization staffs during the month of September 2019 have impounded 14 various non-duty paid vehicles having value of approximately Rs 20.30 million. These impounded vehicles include Suzuki Swift, Toyota Crown, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Fielder and others.
The anti-smuggling squad has specifically focused on the interception of smuggled vehicles and goods in the jurisdiction to curtail transportation of non-duty paid vehicles and various goods from clandestine routes in the country.
Multan Customs has done successful anti-smuggling operations and seized huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes, HSD products, dates, dry fruits, cloths, auto parts and contraband items of worth Rs147.7 millions in their action.
