Customs Court directs to complete investigation against M/s Sialkot Goods and others

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of customs preventive to complete investigation against Chaudhry Shahid Amjad, owner of M/s Sialkot Goods and others, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle Gutkha, Black Label Scotch whisky, Fuel Filter etc.

On October 21, 2019, investigation officer has informed that on an actionable information, a team of ASO officers reached Sialkot Goods Railway Dry Port, Karachi and reached wagon of M/s Sialkot Goods, Railway Dry Port Karachi.

He further submits that during the search, customs officials found 84 bottles of black label scotch whisky, 12 bottles of chivas regal scotch whisky valuing of 480,000, 3250 kg Shikhar Gutkha made in India valuing of Rs6,500,000 6025 FS1280 weight 6.76 kg valuing of Rs. 2, 132 which would be shifting within the city area.

He said that prosecution is being carried on and prosecution will produce progress report on next date of hearing, he also stated that owner of the said goods and other financiers, perpetrators, abettors and others are not arrested yet, therefore, court may grant time.

After the hearing, court taken FIR into court record and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the Customs Act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
