Smuggled medicines: Collector Seema directs to seal 5 outlets of M/s D-Watson Chemists

ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Collector Seema Raza ordered Anti-Smuggling Organization to seal five outlets of renowned chemist, M/s D-Watson for selling sub-standard and smuggled medicines and cosmetics.
Talking with Customs Today Collector Seema Raza Bokhari said that under direction of Member Customs Operations Jawwad Agha, the Customs squad with assistance of capital administration has been sealed five out lets of D-Watson those are situated at F-6, F-7, F-10, F-11 and I-10.
She said that during last week the ASO sealed M/s Shaheen Chemists and registered FIR against them for illegally possessing smuggled goods and contra banned drugs in worth of Rs.12 million from a gadown located at Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi.
She informed that Customs department raided medical stores in various sectors of Islamabad after recovering fake and nameless drugs from ‘Shaheen Chemist’ in Rawalpindi and found same fake and unnamed medicines from renowned medical store D-Watson and recovered various type of non duty paid cosmetics.

She told that inventory of seized goods of D-Watson Chemists is under process while shifting of huge quantity of smuggled cosmetics and other non-tax paid items to Islamabad Dry port for purpose of appraisement valuation is also under process.
She told that above said five D-Watson stores have failed to provide requisite documents of imported medicines and other items, she added that fake vitamins were originally manufactured in Pakistan but were labeled as ”made in the USA” to rob people in the name of imported vitamins.
She further told that following the section 163 of Customs Act 1969 the Customs squad fulfill all the legal requirements with assistance of local administration and made thoroughly searching of the D-Watson where they found huge quantity of miscellaneous smuggled goods including cosmetics, perfumes and different type of other smuggled items.
The Collector said that this blatant and fraudulent drug mafia is playing with the lives of the people just to make some more money which is very shameful act.
