Customs Court approves interim charge sheet of HSD Oil smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted progress report against suspect namely Naseem son of Madam Gul, who was arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle 10,000 liters high speed diesel valuing of Rs950,000.
On 17 December 2019, court also granted after arrest bail of the above mentioned suspect and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.
During the hearing, investigation officer of customs preventive submitted charge sheet against him and informed the court that on actionable information, customs officials intercepted water tanker bearing registration number JV-5863 and during the search, customs preventive officials recovered 10,000 liters high speed diesel from inside water tanker and after recovery, above mentioned driver was asked to produce any lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, goods along with vehicles were seized and driver was also taken into custody.
After the hearing, court approved charge sheet and after that suspect moved an application for after arrest bail and court granted him bail against the surety of Rs200,000 and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, case was registered complainant by Hassan Sardar, Preventive Officer, Customs House Karachi for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the customs act, 1969.
