DG I&I Zahid Khokar visits Faisalabad to review performance

FAISALABAD: Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Zahid Khokar visited Faisalabad and reviewed the progress of the department. Director Customs Intelligence Muhammad Adnan Akram, Additional Director Zahra Haider and Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shoukat received the DG on his arrival.
Director Adnan Akram briefed the director general about the ongoing activities and performance of the officers against the offenders involved in smuggling and tax evasion.
Director General Zahid Khokar appreciated the I&I team on the recent mega seizures that were conducted at the delivery godown of M/s Dawood Mills near Dewoo Road Sitara Sapna city and recovered a huge quantity of non customs paid smuggled ladies shafoon cloth. Owners of the godown were escaped from the scene. Intelligence team had sealed the godown due to the storage of illegally imported cloth. These cloth consignments were being stored at the Dawood Mills Godown and supplied afterward to the local market evading duty and taxes, posing loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

DG Zahid Khokar also reviewed the performance of Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad of the last 11 months and evaluated the performance of the Customs Intelligence in taking steps for eliminating smuggling. DG also evaluated the status of the cases sent to the adjudication collectorate for legal proceedings.

Zahid Khokar stressed the need for taking effective and decisive steps regarding elimination of smuggling activities. He urged the customs officers to leave no stone unturned in order to curb smuggling activities in the southern region, adding that the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence is ready to provide every possible assistance to the customs authorities for eradicating the menace of smuggling.
