QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs team impounded huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs100 million at Kuchlak during a joint operation with FC.
According to sources Collector Customs Preventive Iftikhar Ahmed received credible information that a huge quantity of smuggled goods are dumped in Khuchlak area and are being transported to Quetta and onwards into country.
A team was constituted by the Collector to foiled the attempt. FC assisted Customs team during the said operation.
Customs staff along with FC North Baluchistan conducted raided a godown in Khuchlak and recovered huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled including cigarettes, pan parag, tyres and electronics goods etc.
The said operation went on for several hours amid stiff resistance. Goods have been seized and further legal action is under way.
Chief Collector Customs Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary directed all anti-smuggling squad to perform their duties despite very harsh weather. It may be mentioned here that the smugglers expedite their illegal activities taking advantage of such weather.
