LAHORE: Progressive Group in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has welcomed the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) for convening a traders’ moot in the federal capital for discussing issues with the Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Progressive Group’s President Khalid Usman, Vice President Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry and Deputy Secretary Muhammad Ejaz Tanveer in a joint statement issued here on Tuesday hoped that a significant breakthrough will be made during this meeting between the Prime Minister Imran Khan and representatives of the business community scheduled on January 20.
They said that the traders were tired of continued deadlock among traders and tax collectors. They are ready to pay due taxes but at the same time wanted minimum interaction between the taxpayer and tax collector so as they could focus on their business. As being tipped that the premier is expected to announce relief for the traders during the meeting, it is a welcoming move on the part of the Government as it will restore confidence of the traders and businessmen in the government and create a business enabling environment in the country which at present is lacking.
Progressive Group leaders said that traders should now come forward to discharge their national obligation by paying taxes and preparing solid suggestions to be submitted at this highest level meeting, which could pave way for gearing up business and industrial activities leading to generation of jobs and increased revenue in the national kitty for development of the country.
