RAWALPINDI: Chief traffic officer Mohammed Bin Ashraf has said that the special campaign Motor Bikes without number plates and underage drivers in the city will kick off on Thursday aiming to prevent street crimes and accidents.
Body cameras are also being provided to the warden in order to bring transparency in Traffic Challans to monitor the behavior and performance of the wardens. The Anjman e Tajran and the Chamber of Commerce will be consulted in order to eliminate UTurns or one way to traffic flows in the city. An advisory committee will be formed from the platform of the chamber to further enhance citywide traffic awareness campaigns.
Addressing a meeting of traders during his visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) CTO Rawalpindi said that bad signals and timing are being improved. The number of wardens is being increased at all important places including Liaquat Bagh, Kachari Chowk, 6th Road, Fowara Chowk. Motorcycle riders must wear helmets at petrol pumps. The pumps will be fined or sealed if any violation found and added that awareness campaigns will also be initiated to ensure its implementation. He said that the traffic police will cooperate with RCCI in every possible way for easy access and convenience of visitors to Rawal Expo 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, President Chamber Saboor Malik said that the Chamber’s platform is available for awareness campaigns and added that lectures can be given at school colleges and universities. The advisory committee can reduce traffic pressure in several key markets.
