KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed ministry for foreign affairs Government of Pakistan to arrange visas and other necessary documents for inspection of pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in India on a petition filed by several pharmaceutical importers companies against delay of several tips of medicines.
On 16 January 2020, a two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar was hearing the matter.
During the hearing, DG Drug Regulation Authority Pakistan (DRAP) appeared before the court and submitted that according to rules, a committee of DRAP has to personally visit at manufacturing companies and after approval of said company permission letter issued for import of medicines and large number of manufacturing companies are in India.
DG Drug Regulation Authority Pakistan (DRAP) further said that due to current situation between Pakistan and India, visa for India is not being issuing from ministry of foreign affairs, therefore, department has no option and waiting for visas.
During the hearing, counsel for the importers companies argued that they are waiting since more than one year and due to shortage of medicines, they do not supply as orders have been given to them from markets, therefore, they are facing very difficulties.
After the hearing, court directed ministry of foreign affairs and government officials to issue visas of committee members within 45 days and all the issue would be decided within 45 days and report produce before the court on next date of hearing.
