MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue seeks report from Customs Preventive about recovery of short assessment of vehicles cleared under the amnesty scheme 2013.
The government has launched amnesty scheme on March 5, 2013 for regularization of smuggled vehicles in the country after payment of taxes, duty and nominal redemption fine. Almost 51,201 vehicles were regularized through the amnesty scheme while audit was conducted of 50,876.Secretary Enforcement and Coordination Syed Mahmood Hassan has directed Customs Collectorate Preventive to submit comprehensive report on the vehicles cleared under amnesty scheme 2013 through Collectorate. Multan Customs Preventive has been asked to inform that how many vehicles cleared under amnesty was carried out audit to ensure transparency.
The Collectorate will also inform Federal Board of Revenue about how many vehicles found short duty assesses during audit of amnesty scheme 2013.The Federal Board of Revenue has also sought report about demand notices issued against vehicles cleared under amnesty scheme.
Multan Customs will also provide details about recovery made through vehicles cleared under amnesty scheme. The Collectorate will also update status about duty taxes recovered from vehicles through said regularization scheme and how many cleared vehicles recovery has been still pending.
It is also pertinent to mention here that most of the Collectorate observed Federal Board of Revenue guidelines in violation than in compliance under the vehicle clearance amnesty scheme.
Collectorate Multan Preventive is also compiling report against recoverable duty taxes on pending cases of vehicles cleared through tax amnesty scheme. Multan Customs will submit comprehensive report to Federal Board of Revenue about vehicle amnesty scheme in next few days.
