ISLAMABAD: Privatization Minister Muhammadmian Soomro said on Wednesday that the Privatisation Commission would be completing the sale transactions of six state-owned entities in the ongoing financial year.
“The privatisation process will be completed in a transparent and efficient manner, he assured, while speaking at a news conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.
He said the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and the court judgments of the past would be fully observed while carrying out the privatization of state-owned entities.
“Bids for the privatization of 1,230MW Haveli Bahadur Shah Plant and 1,223MW Balloki Plant had been received,” he informed, adding that this indicated the economic policies of the present government were moving in a right direction.
Privatization Secretary Rizwan Malik on the occasion said that the proceedings from the privatization process would be utilized on debt servicing and public welfare projects.
“The Privatisation Commission received an encouraging response during its roadshows conducted in various countries,” he said, adding that due diligence of 27 non-utilized government properties had been completed.
Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said all non-functional government institutions would be privatized to make them functional.
