Govt bars customs to clear second hand clothing, shoes & worn articles imported from China

KARACHI:  Government of Pakistan Port Health Establishment issued advisory on Pneumonia outbreak due to Novel Corona Virus to all the Collectorate of customs.

The Advisory issued by Port Heath Officer Dr. Mohammad Ai Zardari read as “I have to convey the instructions received from Direcorate of Central Health Establishment, Islamabad that second hand clothing/used hoes and other worn articles should not be cleared without fumigation under the supervision of Port Health Establishment, till further orders.

It is necessary to mention here that Pakistan on Friday halted flights to and from China with immediate effect, a civil aviation official said, as the death toll from a virus outbreak spreading in China mounted and the World Health Organisation called it a global health emergency.

“We are suspending flights to China until Feb 2,” additional secretary of aviation Abdul Sattar Khokhar told Reuters by phone, adding the situation would be reviewed after that date. He declined to comment on the reason for the closure.
