Customs AIIA recovered huge quantity of liqour, mobile phones

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) recovered huge quantity of liqour, mobile phones and other items from passengers in different operations.

Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi directed all customs staff deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport enhance monitoring of passengers arriving and departing for foreign countries.

During checking of passengers customs team recovered 80 bottles of liqour, 35 mobile phones, cosmetics, electronic goods from six passengers.

In another operation the authorities recovered 45 bottles of liqour from the luggage of passengers who were coming from Dubai.

In another, operation 35 bottles were recovered from four passengers through Etihad Airways.

A pessenger Rshida Qamer was carrying with her illegal cosmetics coming to Lahore on Qatar Airways QR628.

In yet another attempt the authorities recovered 28 mobile phones and LCDs from a passenger Iftikhar Hussain who was coming from Dubai by Emirates airlines flight no: EK- 624.

The operations were conducted on the directions of Collector Airport Basit Mehmood Abbasi.

The Customs Authorities recovering the illegal items let the passengers leave the airport. Sources rold Customs Today that the collector has instructed all customs staff to take strict action against persons involved in illegal activities.
