FBR seeks undertakings from all officials & employees not to indulge in private tax practice

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all employees and officials to submit undertakings for not indulging in private tax practice

Secretary Revenue Budget Sultan M. Nawaz Nasir has informed all chief commissioners Inland Revenue and warned all officials of Large Taxpayers Units, Corporate Regional Tax Offices and Regional Tax Offices to avoid from private tax practice.

The Federal Board of Revenue received several complaints that some employees of Inland Revenue involved in private tax practice /consultancy. Those employees found in the private tax practice/consultancy file tax returns without wealth statements & e-filing disciplinary action in case anyone found indulged in private legal / tax consultancy.

This practice is against the rules, as it compromises their official status and brings disrepute to the department under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964.

The Federal Board of Revenue has decided to take strict action against any official who found involved in such practice, which shall also entail initiation of disciplinary proceedings under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973,”

 

The FBR warned all its officials, including Inland Revenue and Pakistan Customs against indulging into any such private, tax/ legal consultancy of any sort in the future.
