Customs AIIA foils bid to smuggle liqour & cigarettes during operations

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Allama Iqbal International Airport team has foiled bids to smuggle liqour and cigarettes from Lahore to Manchester and from Bangkok to Lahore.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Customs Zainab Mehmood supervised the entire operation. The Customs authorities after seizing the liqour and cigarettes have stated investigations.

As per details, a passenger who was coming from Bangkok with his friends on Thai Air flight no: GT346  was carrying 81 bottles of liqour while another passenger who was leaving for Manchester was carrying with him 60 bundles of cigarettes.

It is necessary to mention here that Deputy Collector Zainab Mehmood directed strict monitoring to all incoming and outgoing passengers. She further directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling and anyone found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.

It is necessary to mention here that last week customs team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport recovered huge quantity of liquor from different passengers.
