Sales tax, FED return filing date extended

ISLAMABAD: The Fede­ral Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday extended last date for submission of sales tax and federal excise duty (FED) returns for the period of January and February. In a statement, the FBR said it will also accept payment of duty and taxes online to facilitate taxpayers amid the ongoing coronavirus situation in the country.

According to a circular issued here, the submission for return of sales tax and FED for the month of January was February 28 which has now been extended up to April 15, 2020. For February, the payment date was further extended till March 31, 2020 from March 15, 2020. The submission of sales tax and FED returns was further extended to April 15, 2020 from March 25, 2020.

In a statement, FBR said taxpayers can pay their sales tax, FED, income tax and customs duty online (internet banking, ATM and mobile banking).

In case of any hardship, taxpayers can seek help from FBR helpline 111-772-772. The decision was taken in the wake of government’s decision to stay away from crowded places and keep social distancing from others, the statement added.
