Customs ASO impounds smuggled dry milk, China salt worth Rs50m

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded over Rs 50 million smuggled dry milk, China salt and Khopra powder.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Basit Maqsood Abbasi received information from his sources that huge quantity of smuggled dry milk, China salt and Khopra powder dumped in a godown located near Akbari Mandi.

He immediately constituted anti-smuggling squad comprising Assistant Collector Salman Javaid, Superintendent Faizur Rehman and inspectors including Ashfaq Hamdani who raided the godown and recovered 1708 bags of dry milk, 450 bags of China salt and 23 bags khopra powders.  The customs authorities registering FIR have started further investigation into the case.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Preventive Basit Maqsood Abbasi after assuming the charge directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling and use all available resources to thwart smuggling attempts in the region

Due to effective strategy there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts.
