LAHORE: Condition of Asif Mehmood Jah, Chief Collector of Customs Islamabad, who was seriously injured in an accident on Friday, is stable now. Pakistan Customs earlier suffered another serious blow as Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, a BS 22 officer of Customs, died of Coronavirus.
Asif Mehmood Jah, a well-known social worker, was travelling through Lahore-Islamabad Motorway when he met a serious accident and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Mayo Hospital for treatment where doctors asked for B- blood required for operation due to serious injury.
Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor of Mayo Hospital said that there was internal injury which could not be suspected or identified by doctors. Main artery supplying blood to abdomen was ruptured resulting in internal bleeding. Doctors immediately operated him to save his life.
Family sources said that Dr Asif Jah remained in Intensive Care Unit of Mayo Hospital, however, his condition got stable. The family asked for prayers and blessings for his early recovery.
Jah’s accident was another big blow to the Pakistan Customs as just two days’ back, Muhammad Zahid Khokhar passed away due to COVID-19. Khokhar was just promoted to BS-22 and currently holding charge of DG Transit Trade.
It is necessary to mention here that the President of Pakistan has conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz on Dr Asif Mehmood Jah for rendering marvelous services for the humanity in distress for the last 25 years.
Chief Collector North Region Dr Asif Jah joined the civil service in Customs Group in 1992. Ever since his joining the service, he has performed exceptionally well and contributed to increase in the government revenues. He has been given meritorious reward by FBR several times. He is the only recipient who has been given the civil award in the field of social work. He runs a free clinic after office hours and is the author of over 20 books. He never misses the chance of rescuing the people in national disasters. Whether there is a flood or an earthquake or drought-hit Thar, he reaches there along with medicines, eatables and medicines as well as relief teams.
