I&I IR detects recovers smuggled cigarettes from private warehouse near Vehari

MULTAN: Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Inland Revenue (IR) recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes from a private warehouse near Vehari.

According to the details, the Federal Board of Revenue has directed Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue to take stern action against tax evaders.

Director Zubair Bilal received secret information that huge quantities of cigarettes were dumped near 19-Qasi Vehari Road Multan.

Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue Multan raided private warehouse near Vehari and recovered huge quantity of cigarettes. Said tobacco distributor was evading sales tax and on the said stock of cigarettes. Local police were also called for assistance during crackdown of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue.

Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation detained the records, ledgers, accounts, computers, laptops and inventory details for further investigation.

About tax evasion of Rs3 million was detected during preliminary interrogation of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue. Legal action against tax offender has been initiated and further investigations were under process.
