Customs Preventive submits final charge sheet in contraband goods smuggling case

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has submitted final charge sheet against suspects namely Nadeem Iqbal son of Muzamil Hussain, Muhammad Sadiq son of Karam Khan and Amir Iqbal son of Muzamil Hussain, who were booked in a case of smuggling contraband goods into Pakistan.

On 8 October, 2020, investigation officer submitted final challan and informed the court that on actionable information, customs officials recovered 40 cartons containing Ruby Super Slim brand foreign origin cigarettes total 2,000 dandas worth Rs3,000,000. 30 cartons containing Business brand foreign origin cigarettes total 1,500 dandas, worth Rs2,250,000, 10 cartons containing Gold Pearl brand foreign origin cigarettes total 500 dandas worth Rs7,50,000, 20 cartons containing Milano brand foreign origin cigarettes total 1000 dandas, worth Rs1,500,000, 79 cartons containing assorted Chinese brand cigarettes total 3950 dandas worth Rs5,925,000 total worth of goods is Rs32,925,000.

He stated that suspect Nadeem Iqbal is in judicial custody and the remaining two suspects are on bail, after the hearing, the court approved the final charge sheet and fixed the case for regular hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of section 2 (s) read with sections 156 (2), 157 (2) and 178 of the customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of the section 156 (1) ibid read with section 3 (1) of the import and export control act, 1969.
