Banks to observe extended working hours today to facilitate taxpayers

KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) directed banks to observe extended banking hours on December 08, 2020 for facilitating taxpayers in payment of duty and taxes.

It is worth mentioning that the December 08, 2020 is last date for filing annual return of income for tax year 2020 and taxpayers will need banking services to pay their challans for completing filing of income tax returns.

The SBP issued directives through a circular for opening of concerned branches to facilitate the collection of government receipts / duties / taxes on December 08, 2020.

The central bank said that in order to facilitate the collection of government receipts/duties/taxes, it has been decided that the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) and authorized branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will observe extended banking hours till 9:00 PM on December 8, 2020 (Tuesday), for which purpose a special clearing has been arranged at 6:00 PM on the same day by the NIFT.

All banks have also been directed to keep their concerned branches open on December 08, 2020 (Tuesday) till such time that is necessary to facilitate the special clearing for government transactions by the NIFT.
