Quetta I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs22.4m

QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of miscellaneous goods worth Rs22.4 million.

Sources told that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Samul Haq received credible information about smuggling of goods.

He directed Deputy Director Dr. Zohaib to take necessary measures to thwart any attempt of smuggling. The Customs I&I team led by Inspector Hamid Habib intercepted a truck at Toor Nasir. The driver of the vehicle later identified as Hazrat. The truck was loaded with scrap.

Thorough search of the vehicle led to recovery of auto parts and remeltable scrap. During investigation it was revealed that seized goods belong to notorious smuggler Sadiq Achakzai.

Customs I&I team after registering a case of smuggling started further investigations.

It is necessary to mention here that Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized six vehicles carrying smuggled Iranian diesel in quantity of 195000 liters worth Rs61.50 million.
