Customs I&I recovers smuggled goods worth Rs80.11m from Bolton Market

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs80.11 million from Bolton market.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Khalil Yousafani received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods are dumped in Bolton Market near Youaf Plaza.

Deputy Director Tauseef Gorchani constituted a team under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Muhammad Sadiq and the suspected area situated in the congested Boltan Market was closely monitored.

Search of the premises resulted in recovery of huge quantity of smuggled and injurious to health goods including Cigarettes & Gutka.

Keeping in view the huge quantity of recovered goods and the possibility of any untoward law and order situation, detailed inventory of the recovered goods could not be carried out at the spot. However, the summarize inventory of sacks was made on spot and the same were brought under the escort of the Customs Intelligence to the office of the Directorate situated in PECHS, Karachi.

​During the entire course of the long recovery neither any one approached the team to claim the ownership of above mentioned recovered goods, i.e. Cigarettes & Gutka, nor at later stage anyone appeared in relation to recovered goods from the spot.

The goods have been seized and FIR lodged. ​
