Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs75m from Quetta to Lahore

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded three trailers which were loaded with smuggled iron pipes and were coming from Quetta.

Sources told that the seized goods belong to notorious smuggler Haji Nabi Bakhash. Haji Nabi Bakhash is a notorious smugglers.

However, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Asad Raza Rizvi and Collector Preventive Lahore Basit Maqood Abbasi did not succumb to pressure and are continuously cracking down on the operations of Haji Nabi Bakhash.

Sources told that information was received by Director Asad Raza Rizvi about smuggling attempt. He immediately alerted Additional Director Hasan Farid regarding movement of smuggled goods.

An anti-smuggling squad was formed under the supervision of Additional Director Hassan Farid which also includes Deputy Director Tayyeba Bokhari Superintendent Agha Qadeer, Inspector Gulzar Bhatti, Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector Tipu, AD and sepoy Rashid Zaidi and Umer Javed.

During detailed examination of the goods the I&I team found that the goods (iron pipes) had been mis-declared and the traders also had misused the facility of industrial exemption. The value of goods is Rs75 million.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation team registered a case against the owner of the goods and started further investigations.
