Customs ASO impounds Rs3186.8m smuggled goods, vehicles

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) Anti- Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized huge quantity of smuggled / non-duty paid goods and vehicles worth Rs3186.8 million during July, 2020 to March, 2021.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Enforcement and Compliance Basit Maqsood Abbasi anti-smuggling squad headed by Additional Collector Muteen Alam, Deputy Collector Syed Kareem Adil, Assistant Collector Ali Tauqir and team consisting of inspectors Abdul Rehman Butt, Hassan Mehmood, Abdul Ghaffar, M. Asghar Purewal, Babar lqbal Rana and Shahid Bakhtiar Bhatti seized a huge quantity of smuggled / non-duty paid goods and vehicles during July, 2020 to March, 2021 worth Rs3186.8 million.

The goods included cloth, tyres, cigarettes, petroleum jelly, diesel oil, crockery, dry fruits, medicines, cosmetics, jewelry, charas etc. Vehicles include Toyota Lexus jeeps, Toyota Land Cruiser (V8), Toyota Hilux Surf, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Vitz cars. Cases worth Rs1246.32 million were made during the corresponding period of last year (2019-20). An increase of 155.7% excess is as compared with the corresponding period of last year.
