Multan I&I seizes smuggled cloth, vehicle worth Rs46.5m near Taunsa Sharif

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Dera Ghazi Khan has seized large quantity of smuggled fabric cloths along with the transporting vehicle. The value of the goods is Rs41 million and value of vehicle is Rs5.5 million.

Sources told Customs Today  that Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation received information through their sources that a consignment of foreign origin fabric is being smuggled from Quetta to South Punjab.

Accordingly, the information was passed on to the team of FIU Dera Ghazi Khan who with the assistance of border military police intercepted the subject trailer at Taunsa Sharif.

Preliminary examination of the container was conducted on the spot and found fully loaded with assorted foreign origin fabric in bales. On demand the driver of the vehicle produced a transportation bilty and import documents.

Meanwhile, the Director Asif Abbas instructed field intelligence unit to depute a team of Intelligence to take over the vehicle along with recovered fabric from BMP Check Post.
