Multan Customs AFU recovers 57kg Ajwa, Shakri & Kalmi brand dates from consignment

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) team recovered 57 kilograms of foreign origin dates from a consignment during routine examination.

Sources told Customs Today that AFU team comprising Inspectors Muhammad Farooq and others intercepted examined a consignment lying at the PIA Cargo shed which was arrived at Multan International Airport through flight no: PK-9716 from Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

Multan customs Air Freight team examined the consignment after receiving secret information from their source and examined the consignment in the presence of two witnesses which led to the recovery of foreign origin 57 Kilogram dates.

The recovered date contains 18 Kilograms Ajwa brand, 18 Kilograms of Kalmi and 21 Kilograms of Shakri. Foreign origin dates were booked by Haji Liaqat Ali and further investigations were still under process. Customs has asked owner of dates to submit import documents for further action.

Multan customs Air Freight Unit team seized the dates under the contravention Section 2(S) read with SRO 566(1)/2005 Section 15 and 16 of the Customs Act 1969.
