LAHORE: Carpet Training Institute (CTI) Chairperson Pervez Hanif has said that instant and extraordinary decisions are urgently needed for policy making in this given circumstances for which the government should increase effective liaison with stakeholders.
In his statement issued here today, Pervez Hanif said further relief should be given to manufacturers and exporters to increase export competitiveness in international markets.
He said the government should issue an explanation to clarify the tax hesitation in the budget for the next financial year. He further said the government should announce in the budget of the next financial year to provide facilities to the handloom carpet industry and other export sectors.
Pervez Hanif also demanded that export industries should be given more relief during the Corona epidemic so that our exports are not affected.
He said that the government could not stabilize the economy and foreign exchange reserves without increasing exports and for this it was necessary to provide full support to all export sectors. “The government should create a category of export sectors and the export sectors which are currently facing more difficulties should be given the same proportion of assistance and relief,” he added.
Pervez Hanif said that after the intensification of the third wave of Corona epidemic, the difficulties for manufacturers and exporters have increased so the government should immediately come forward patronage this sector.
He said the government should announce a special package in view of the difficulties faced by the artisans in the handloom carpet industry. “Exports can be increased by gaining access to various global markets, for which embassies abroad should be tasked to act as a bridge between local importers and Pakistani exporters,” he added.
Pervez Hanif said that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) should take appropriate steps for maintaining the good reputation of the exporters who have been exporting for decades and besides this, SBP should also aware that due to unwarranted obstacles and difficulties, foreign buyers of Pakistani handmade carpets have strong reservations.
