Customs E&C seizes smuggled goods worth Rs3636.34m from July-May 2021

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) under the supervision of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi seized smuggled goods worth Rs3626.24 from July 2020 to May 2021.

According to the details, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance has seized huge quantity of non-duty paid goods and vehicles worth Rs3636.24 million. Goods include gold, auto parts, cloth, tyres, cigarettes, petroleum jelly, diesel oil, crockery, dry fruits, medicines, betel nuts, cosmetics, jewelry, charas etc.

Vehicles include Toyota Lexus jeeps, Toyota Land Cruiser (V8), Toyota Hilux Surf, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Vit cars etc.

Cases of valuing Rs1711.52 million were made during the corresponding period of last year (2019-20). An increase of 112.46 percent excess is as compared with the corresponding period of last year.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi already directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling and anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
