Multan I&I recovers huge quantity of betel nuts & cigarettes from private warehouse

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has recovered huge quantity of betel nuts and cigarettes during raid in a private warehouse.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Director Saeed Ahmad Wattoo received secret information that huge quantity of smuggled items were lying in the warehouse near Lari Adda Multan. Customs Intelligence field staffs decided to took strict action against smuggled goods. Suspected warehouse was located near Neemwala behind Faw Motors Lari Adda.

The Customs I&I obtained search warrants from local magistrate and raided with the help of local Police station in order to avoid any interference during action. Upon cursory checking of warehouse, Customs field Intelligence staff of Multan recovered almost 2957 outers of Cigarettes including Milano Night, Gold Mount, Pine Light, Von Eicken, Hi-lite and various brands during their raid.

During examination of the warehouse Customs Intelligence recovered 115 bags of crushed betel nuts and 17 bags of Polypropylene of betel nuts during their raid. Customs Intelligence found that several betel nuts were placed in the warehouse for the transportation in the various parts of South Punjab. Field Intelligence Unit of Customs found that smugglers were supplying non-customs paid betel nuts to South Punjab retailers. Customs Intelligence recovered documents and other items during their action. Customs Intelligence started further probing for detecting owner of the warehouse.
