Islamabad ASO impounds 21 non duty paid vehicles worth Rs92m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized 21 non duty paid vehicles worth  Rs92 million during the month of October 2021.

Sources of ASO told Customs Today that during month of October 2021 the Car cell of ASO seized various kind of costly vehicles.

The ASO seized NDP vehicles includes Mercedes Benz worth Rs18 million, Toyota Land Cruiser in value of Rs10 million, Toyota Crown car in value of Rs7 million, Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs6 million.

The Care cell also seized Toyota Hilus Surf Rs.5 million, Toyota Mark-X in value of Rs4 million, Toyota Crown car Rs4 million, Toyota Mark-X car in value of Rs3 million, Toyota Hilux surf worth Rs3 million, it added that Car cell also seized many other NDP vehicles LTV vehicles.

It is pretend to mention here that ASO Islamabad not done any seizure of goods during last two month September and October 2021 while this Directorate was made a huge crackdown against smugglers during same period of correspondence period.

When the correspondent contacted with the sources of ASO Islamabad they said that Federal Board of Revenue has ordered not to check any vehicles without prior permission of Deputy Collector or Additional Collectors, but this is mentionable here that there is no presence of any assistant, deputy or additional collector on road when Customs staff stop the vehicles for checking purposes.
