RAWALPINDI: Datu Sri Nazir Meraslam, Chairman, Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council (MPBC), visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and called on President Nadeem Rauf and other officials. RCCI President Nadeem Rauf, gave a detailed briefing on Chamber current and upcoming events.
The RCCI President gave a briefing to the Chairman of Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council on the ongoing activities of the Chamber. He said that in order to further strengthen the trade relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, cooperation could be enhanced in many sectors especially in the areas of tourism, pilgrimage, construction, e-commerce, IT and education. The office of Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) should also be opened in Pakistan. The Chamber will provide all kinds of assistance, he added.
While talking to RCCI office bearers, Chairman MPBC, Nazir Meraslam said that opening a trade office in Pakistan could increase bilateral trade and he is holding meetings with different stakeholders in this regard.
The efforts of Rawalpindi Chamber in promoting trade activities are commendable, he said. After halal certification, it will be easier to send meat from Pakistan to Malaysia. There is also a demand in Malaysia for skilled manpower, security guards and construction related manpower.
Group Leader Sohail Altaf said that joint ventures could be launched for the promotion of tourism in Pakistan. At present 60% of Pakistan’s population is youth. Bilateral trade, people to people contacts and close cooperation in the IT sector can be strengthened.
