Customs I&I impounds smuggled goods, vehicle worth Rs200m

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) thwarted an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of smuggled goods from Quetta to Lahore.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saima Aftab received credible information regarding smuggling of goods. She directed Additional Director Hasan Farid and Deputy Director Ali Asad to use all available resources to foil any bid of smuggling.

The Customs team enhanced vigilance on the suspected routes, resultantly Customs I&I team intercepted two containers recovered huge quantity of fabric, cigarettes, tyres and food stuff

Sources said that owner of the goods is notorious smuggler Haji Sadiq and these goods were being smuggled from Quetta to Lahore.

The phenomenon of massive movements of smuggled goods loaded on vehicles continues unabated from Quetta to Lahore. The total count of such vehicles intercepted stand as follows: 13 × Mazda (PKR 200 Million), 2 x Containers (65M) and 2 x 12 wheelers (80M). Most of these vehicles belong to Haji Sadiq and Nabi Bux, who have hired new warehouses in South Punjab for transit dumping of smuggled goods from Quetta to Lahore.
