Customs Preventive nominates further accused in 61,600 Euros smuggling case

KARACHI: Investigation Officer (IO) of Customs Preventive Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) submitted interim charge sheet and mentioned another 3 absconding accused persons namely Akhtar Alam son of Sarfraz Alam Jafri, Arif Alam son of Sarfraz Alam Jafri, Fayyaz Alam Jafri for smuggling of 61600 Euros equivalent to US$ 686775 approximately.

It needs to be mentioned here that two brother & sister namely Obaid Siddiqui son of Muhammad Afzal and Aqsa Siddiqa daughter of Muhammad Afzal already booked in the same case

On 18 February 2022 during the hearing, investigation officer appeared before the court and informed that during the investigation three more accused persons’ namely Akhtar Alam son of Sarfraz Alam Jafri, Arif Alam son of Sarfraz Alam Jafri, Fayyaz Alam Jafri for the same charges who are the real culprits for smuggling of 61600 Euros equivalent to US$ 686775 approx.

Earlier, last date of hearing, investigation officer had -re-produced them before the trail court and informed the court that above mentioned accused were bound for Dubai by Emirates Airline Flight No EK-605 and they have three brown color and one trolley bag.

He further informed the court that due to suspicious, they were brought for examination and during joint examination, customs officials found 61, 600 Euros equivalent to US$ 686775 approximately and have committed an offence which falls under the ambit of section 2(s), 16 of the customs act, 1969, punishable under sub clauses iii (e) of clause (8) & sub clause (f) of section (70) of section 156 (i) ibid read with notification of state bank of Pakistan.
