MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&) has sent the samples from 1.1 million liters of diesel confiscated at an illegal storage facility to different laboratories for testing and confirmations.

Director General Abdul Rasheed Shaikh has constituted a team comprising two BS-19 officers and one BS-18 officer to investigate how such large quantity of diesels reached this illegal storage facility in Multan.

The team will investigate and identify the routes used to transport the diesel to Malik Shabbo’s storage facility as well as involvement of Customs officers/officials, if any.

The team would also determine whether the fuel was bought from oil marketing companies or Customs auction, and also verify whether Malik Shabbo had proper authority and license to store 0.9 million liters of diesel.

Customs has recovered around one million liters of smuggled Irani petroleum products from the warehouse of M/s Bismillah Lubricant in Multan.

M/s Bismillah Lubricant is owned by one Malik Shabbo. He is known as king of petroleum in Punjab.

Malik Shabbo has installed large fuel tanks at the said warehouse, where Irani fuel products were stored for further distribution in Punjab. These large quantities of smuggled fuel were safely and freely transported from Gwadar to Multan.

Sources said two BS-16 officials of Customs Multan and I&I Multan allegedly received significant amounts every month, which could be in connection with this diesel business.
