British DHM keen to further strengthen trade relations with Pakistan

KARACHI: H.E British Deputy Head of Mission, Martin Dawson, has vowed to further strengthen trade & diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom(UK) and Pakistan and promote bilateral trade, saying that there were vast trade opportunities for traders from both countries that would be of great benefit for both countries.

British Deputy Head of Mission, while addressing at an event held at a local hotel in recognizing M. Arif Balgamwala for winning the Gold Medal on Pakistan Ovpt 1947-1949 at the “London 2022” International Stamp Exhibition. Arif Balgamwala is a prominent Pakistani businessman, philatelist (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), former Chairman Karachi Chamber’s Diplomatic Sub-Committee and former Chairman Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association(PCDMA).

The exhibition, held at the Business Design Centre at Islington London, took place on 19-26 Feb 2022. Which is held every 10 years. Arif Balgamwala has the unique honor of being the first Pakistani to win a Gold Medal for his comprehensive collection of Pakistan Overprints (1947 to 1949) of this exhibition.

The British Deputy Head of Mission congratulated, and said that for a Pakistani to win a gold medal in the exhibition for the first time in 75 years, it is definitely a great and unique honor for Arif Balgamwala, who presented the soft image of Pakistan to the world in a wonderful way.

Arif Balgamwala attributed his success to Pakistan, and said that it was his dream to win a gold medal at the London Exhibition which was fulfilled, and he will continue his struggle for the betterment of his country.

Balgamwala also showcased his stamp collection on Pakistan Ovpt 1947-1949 at the event, which was well received by the participants. On this occasion Arif Balgamwala also presented the stamp folder about Pakistan to the British Deputy Head of Mission.
