Maritime Affairs Ministry donates Rs70m in PM Relief Fund

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Tuesday made a donation of worth Rs70 million to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Sabzwari presented the donation cheques to the prime minister during a meeting. Port Qasim Authority had donated a cheque of worth Rs50 million while Karachi Port Trust donated Rs20 million cheque respectively. 

Earlier, on the appeal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, philanthropists donated 20 million rupees to help the flood-affected people of the country.

The philanthropists, belonging to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, handed over cheques to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said helping the flood-hit people is not less than worship. He appealed the nation to contribute for the flood victims.

The Prime Minister said millions of people have become homeless due to folds across Pakistan. He said over 1,100 people have lost their lives in the devastating floods. He said the government is rescuing people in priority basis. He said provision of cash assistance of 25,000 rupees has immediately been started to the flood affected people. Besides, ration, clean drinking water, tents, and mosquito nets are also being provided to victims of flood.
