LAHORE: After current Inspector General of Police (IGP) Faisal Shahkar refused to work under the Punjab government a few days back, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, a senior officer of Pakistan Police Service (PSP), is favourite in the race for the post of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP).
It is to be noted here that Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has also been the staff officer of Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
Earlier in June 25 2021, Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan was as Deputy Director General Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
Zulfiqar is an officer of the Police Service Pakistan (PSP) group and has served as IG Motorway Police.
During his tenure as Inspector General Islamabad he introduced accountability mechanism against police officials involved in corruption, misbehavior with citizens. Capacity building in terms of training is a regular feature of Islamabad Police.
Due to proactive policing 35% crime rate is reduced. In order to change Thana culture, real time videos have been prepared and from next week onwards comprehensive training would take place.
He directed to hold drug awareness seminars and initiatives in terms of gender-mainstreaming. He established fourteen police stations have been detailed with female desk officers.
His other postings including IG Operations Punjab, DIG Operations Punjab, DIG CTD Punjab, RPO Multan, CPO Multan, SSP Special Branch Lahore, SSP Operations Lahore among other designations.
