Pakistan okays Angoor Adda as export route to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has approved the Angoor Adda highway in the southern Waziristan tribal district as a transit route for exports to Afghanistan.

The federal government took the decision to add Angoor Adda as an Export Land Route to Afghanistan on the recommendation of the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR).

After approval from the federal government, the Ministry of Trade and Commerce has amended its Export Policy Order.

Chaman, Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Qamaroddin, Kharlachi and Karez are the authorised routes for exports to Afghanistan.

Earlier, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan registered a massive decline in MoM basis in April, said sources.

The sources said that the exports to Afghanistan recorded a decrease of 25.54 MoM basis in April and 24.66 YoY basis.

The exports to Afghanistan in April 2023 remained $76.4 million as compared to $11.40 million in the same corresponding period last year. The volume of bilateral trade between Islamabad and Kabul remained $125 million in April 2023.
