Smuggling of auto parts: Customs I&I files FIR against M/s Akram Autos

KARACHI: Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Karachi has registered an FIR against Akram Rashid of M/s Akram Autos for smuggling of auto parts worth Rs1.5 billion in international market.

According to the details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has recovered huge quantity of smuggled Spark Plugs and other auto parts of Japanese origin from a warehouse in S.I.T.E Area, Karachi.

The raid was conducted on November 11, 2023, on the basis of credible information received by Director General Mr. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar. A team led by Deputy Director Wasif Malik, Principal Appraiser Irshad Shah and Appraising Officer Asad Shabbir carried out the operation and lodged an FIR against Akram Rashid of M/s Akram Autos, who is the owner of the warehouse.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation is conducting investigations to unearth the entire network of smugglers, financiers, and facilitators involved in this illegal trade.

It is also pertinent to mention here this was the second major seizure of smuggled Spark Plugs in the past two months, as the Directorate had earlier recovered smuggled Spark Plugs of Chinese origin, valued at Rs. 169 million, from a Godown in Phase I, D.H.A Karachi on September 31, 2023.
