Multan I&I seizes smuggled goods & vehicles worth Rs967.40m in November 2023

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I Multan Region has accelerated anti-smuggling drive in the territory to curb menace of smuggling and seized non-duty paid foreign origin miscellaneous goods and vehicles of almost Rs.967.40 million during various actions in the month of November 2023-24.

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has intensified its drive against smuggling activities in the country, under the professional leadership of Member Customs (Operation) Ms. Zeba Haye Azhar and able guidance of Director General Intelligence and Investigation Faiz Ahmad Chadhar.

Director Asif Khan Buzdar started massive crackdown against smuggled miscellaneous goods and vehicles after the clear instructions of Director General I&I and adopted zero tolerance policy against smugglers with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies and enhanced mutual information sharing for aggressive crackdown against smuggling. Deputy Directors Customs Intelligence Asif Ali Sakhi and Ali Tauqeer started crackdown of smuggling goods  coming through Baluchistan to Punjab border and closed all the smuggling routes despite severe pressure from notorious elements.

Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Muhammad Asif Khan Buzdar has also directed field Intelligence staff to take immediate action against smuggled goods and enhanced monitoring of the suspected vehicles to foil any attempt of smuggling in the jurisdiction to curb smuggling. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has carried out vigorous actions against smuggled goods and detected almost 20 massive seizure cases of worth almost Rs. 705.10 million during the period of November 2023-24 in various successful actions. 

Field Intelligence Staff of Customs has intercepted various suspected truck loaded with huge quantity of Plastic bags, skimmed milk, dry fruits and cloths during routine road checking of strategic routes. Customs field Intelligence staff deputed at various strategic points intercepted the several trucks by recovering huge amount quantity of  miscellaneous goods after the intercepting said vehicle. Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has thwarted several major smuggling attempts in jurisdiction.

Strict action of Directorate of Custom Intelligence & Investigation Multan  has given hard-hitting time to smugglers for bringing non-customs duty paid goods in the jurisdiction. Directorate of Custom Intelligence and Investigation Multan is making all efforts to curtail smuggling in the territory. Customs Intelligence recent crackdowns are promoting genuine and legal trade activities in South Punjab by discouraging illegal businesses using smuggled goods.
