Filing fake GD: SHC directs to file FIR against owner of M/s Asghar Steel

KARACHI: Sindh High Court directed to file first information report (FIR) against Muhammad Asghar, owner of Asghar Steel for submitting fake and forged documents and filing false affidavit to get relief.

According to the details, the petitioner filed a goods declaration (GD) showing assessment made on the basis of London Metal Exchange Rate while in fact it was assessed on the basis of Valuation Ruling 1719/2022. The filing of fake document was in the knowledge of the counsel for petitioner as in an appeal filed by him before Collector of Customs Appeal he has sought declaration in respect of assessment made on the basis of Valuation Ruling 1719/2022.

During the hearing the counsel admitted that document in question is false and tendered conditional apology which was accepted with warning to him to be careful in future.

The bench also sought explanation from the Petitioner. An Attorney appeared on behalf of the Petitioner and informed the court that Petitioner is unwell. The bench then directed Registrar of Sing High Court to file FIR against the Petitioner and placed compliance report in chamber.

The bench rejected the Petition as being mis-conceived and also imposed a cost of Rs100,000. The bench also ordered that in case of failure, the CNICs of the Petitioner as well as his Attorney shall be blocked by NADRA.
