Customs JIAP thwarts attempt to smuggle iPhones, laptops from Dubai

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) thwarted an attempt to smuggle iPhones, laptops from Dubai to Pakistan.

Sources told that Additional Collector Muhammad Faisal Khan received credible information about smuggling attempt by passenger via Fly Dubai flight. Total value of the seized goods is  Rs6.451 million.

He immediately directed to enhance vigilance on passenger being arrived from Dubai. The customs team deputed on Jinnah International Airport intercepted two passengers named Shehroz and Sohail Amin were arriving from Dubai on Fly Dubai Flight FZ-329.

Upon arrival, the suspects were directed to the red channel. During detailed luggage scanning, a significant number of phones were discovered concealed in their carry-on bags.

Suspects were taken for thorough body and luggage inspection, which resulted in the discovery of additional mobile phones.

The recovered items include 28 iPhone 14 (128 GB) mobile phones, 2 HP Victus laptops, 50 embroidered cotton suits, 40 bottles of Prime Water Drink (500ml).

Goods have been seized and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the passengers to ascertain the role of other abettors, facilitators etc.
