Committees formed for reforms in Pakistan Customs

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has formed within Pakistan Customs to spearhead reforms. These committees are tasked with restructuring the distribution of work among officers, officials, and field formations.

Each committee is required to submit monthly reports and proposals to the Chairman of the FBR, who will review and consider these recommendations for implementation.

Pakistan Customs Working Group: Under the supervision of Chief Collector Peshawar, Jamil Nasir Khan, this group includes Director Valuation Sanaullah Abro, Collector Appraisement West Irfan Wahid, Collector SAPT Ali Zaman Gardezi, Collector Enforcement Peshawar Afnan Khan, and Deputy Collector Ali Mohtashin Minhas. Their focus areas include faceless assessment, centralized examination, and revamping the clearing agents regime.

Indus-Based Anti-Smuggling Group: This group is headed by Chief FBR Naveed Ilahi and includes Chief FBR Ayesha Niaz, Chief FBR Nasir Khan, Secretary HRMC-I FBR Saad Ata Rabbani, Additional Collector Inamullah Wazir, Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi, and Deputy Director Umair Zahid. Their mandate is to tackle smuggling activities along the Indus River.

These initiatives reflect FBR’s commitment to modernizing Pakistan’s tax administration and enhancing operational efficiency.
