LAHORE: Punjab Revenue Authority reports 33% rise in revenue, targets new records in FY26 with focus on expanding revenue base in service sectors such as banking, insurance, and construction
The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has collected Rs149.5 billion in taxes during the first half of FY2025-26, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, according to a briefing given to the provincial finance minister.
Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman visited the PRA headquarters in Lahore. The minister expressed his satisfaction with the PRA’s revenue generation, emphasising that the province’s financial discipline, transparency, and tax reforms were on the right track.
The PRA Chairman informed the minister that the authority was on track to meet its targets for the fiscal year and could even surpass them if it continued its current trajectory.
The briefing also highlighted the PRA’s ongoing initiatives to expand the revenue base, targeting sectors such as banking, insurance, hospitality, property development, and food delivery platforms. These efforts are expected to generate billions in additional revenue.
Provincial Finance Minister Shuja-ur-Rehman reiterated that the government’s focus remained on broadening the tax net, enhancing transparency, and eliminating tax evasion, rather than imposing new taxes. He emphasised that PRA’s role in enforcing compliance, monitoring data, and implementing institutional reforms was critical for sustainable economic growth.
