KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is preparing to shift its Karachi operations to the Karachi Cotton Exchange building, which is set to be used as its city headquarters, Dawn reported.

The development follows the evacuation of the building in December 2025, when the FIA, along with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), took control of the premises on the directions of the apex court, declaring it a federal trust property.

FIA and the ETPB have reached an arrangement under which the agency will use the building on a rental basis.

The relocation process is already underway, with the Anti-Corruption Circle shifted to the premises, while the Corporate Crime Circle is in the process of moving.

Officials said the building, located on I.I. Chundrigar Road, has an estimated 200 to 300 rooms and is expected to accommodate all FIA offices in Karachi.

The ownership of the property remains under adjudication before the Sindh High Court.
