FBR conducts tax awareness outreach session for IWCCI

ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial the Taxpayers’ Services Wing (TPS) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) under supervision of its Member Ms. Tehmina Aamer conducted a comprehensive Tax Awareness Session at FPCCI for the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IWCCI), with participation from women chambers across the country.

 The session was aimed at enhancing awareness regarding tax responsibilities, voluntary compliance, and recent reforms introduced by FBR to facilitate taxpayers, particularly the women entrepreneurs and business owners.

The FBR delegation comprised Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary Tax Education & Facilitation, Mr. Abdul Rehman, Second Secretary Tax Facilitation, along with officials of the Taxpayers’ Services Wing.

The event was attended via Zoom by Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, Vice President IWCCI, Ms. Samina Fazil, Founder & President IWCCI, Ms. Shamim Aftab, Founder Sargodha Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, as well as executive members of Women Chambers from Peshawar, Malakand, and members of the business community from various cities.

In her introductory remarks, Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain warmly welcomed the FBR team and underscored the importance of tax collection for national development. She highlighted the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and shared constructive proposals to address tax-related issues confronting the women business community.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz provided an overview of FBR’s mandate and ongoing reform agenda. He delivered a detailed presentation on tax awareness and taxpayer facilitation, highlighting key initiatives including Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Track & Trace System, Digital Invoicing, Faceless Customs System, Cargo Tracking System, Direct Port Delivery System, Reward & Rating System, and Video Analytics for production monitoring. He informed participants that Video Analytics has already been implemented in the sugar and cement sectors and is currently being rolled out in the textile sector.

The presentation emphasized that these reforms have significantly improved transparency, strengthened taxpayer confidence, broadened the tax base, and enhanced FBR’s image as a transparent, facilitative, and taxpayer-friendly organization.

Participants showed keen interest and raised various tax-related queries, which were addressed satisfactorily by the FBR team. The audience appreciated FBR’s initiatives aimed at promoting voluntary compliance and fostering a positive tax culture.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, followed by the distribution of souvenirs among the participants.
